No, we accept students of all ages, interests, abilities, and backgrounds, from the absolute beginner looking for an introduction to music to the professional seeking to hone their skills.

No, you may begin lessons at any time. To get started, please fill out the new student inquiry form, and our Director of Student Relations will be in touch.

We teach students of all ages. However, some instruments and instructors have minimum age requirements.

That’s fine! Teachers will meet with you (and/or your parent) and design a course of study to meet your individual needs. Whether you want to be able to play for your own pleasure, to entertain your friends and family, or to play with a band, the teacher is here to help you reach YOUR goals.

We offer lessons in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, rock, folk, bluegrass, gospel, and early childhood education.

Yes! Our exceptional faculty were trained in well-respected music schools, and many hold advanced degrees. They also teach in colleges and universities, are in demand to adjudicate at state and regional competitions, and are active recording artists, solo performers, and in professional performing groups.
Our teachers are as diverse as our programs - able to challenge advanced students, encourage the young beginner, and engage students with special needs.

We have a limited supply of instruments that we rent to students. If we do not have an appropriate instrument available, we can direct you to a source for rental or purchase.

We offer introductory lessons for a fee, where you come to The Music Academy and meet with a teacher at a potential lesson time. You can talk over your wants and needs, and ask specific questions.
For younger children, we encourage parents to introduce them to a variety of musical sounds and styles to help them discover what interests them. We offer events throughout the year designed to introduce different kinds of music to young children. Check out our upcoming events.

Our prices are listed here. Lesson cost varies depending on the length of the lesson and whether it is a private or class lesson. We have a payment plan, offer discounts for early payments and referrals, accept credit cards and checks, and have a limited Financial Aid Program. We try to make it possible for anyone who has the desire to study with us.

We offer a package of four introductory lessons, but usually recommend a full term of lessons to experience noticeable progress.

The Music Academy is open for lessons 7 days a week. Your specific lesson time will be coordinated by our Director of Student Relations, taking into account both the teacher's and your availability.

Read through our teacher bios to help find the person who will best meet your needs. Our Director of Student Relations will also help guide you to the right teacher. An introductory lesson at a fee will let you experience what lessons will be like with a particular teacher.

Students and parents reserve the right to request a change of teacher at any time during the trimester. Requests should be made to the Department Chair or Associate Director. Another introductory lesson at a fee with a different potential teacher would be recommended, but not required.

The Music Academy has a no makeup lesson policy since the teacher has a reserved time slot for each student. Read our policies here. However, your teacher will provide a syllabus with their individual makeup policies when you begin lessons.
