Adult Party:  Throughout the year, adult students gather to enjoy food, fellowship, and sharing of musical talents.  Performance is optional.

Certificate Program:  Students in the piano department may enroll in an optional certificate program with criteria for levels of achievement regarding literature, technique, theory, and sight reading.  Students receive a certificate after completing the requirements for each level.

Consignment Sale:  People who are interested in selling their used instruments can do so and help The Music Academy of North Carolina.  Buyers who are looking for a starter instrument, an upgrade to their current instrument, or a second instrument, will have a chance to see many quality instruments which have been evaluated by area professionals.  Certified repair professionals will be available on site the day of the sale.  There will be a large selection which includes a variety of instruments at fair prices for beginning to advanced students.

Discounts:
Guilford County Public School Employee
: Employees of the Guilford County Public School System receive a 10% discount on MANC tuition fees.
 
Referrals:  Students may earn $20 MANC tuition discounts for referrals. A $20 tuition credit (no cash will be paid) will be awarded for each referral that results in a new student who enrolls for a minimum of 15 private 30-minute lessons, a full Early Childhood class, or full special offering (combo, ensemble, etc.), by August 31 (Fall semester) or January 31 (Spring semester).  No summer term referral discounts will be awarded.
 
Waiver of Administrative Fees: Students who register for the full academic year at the onset of the summer term will have all registration fees waived.

Faculty Showcase Series:  Faculty members of the Academy perform at selected sites throughout the year, in an outreach effort to bring music to different populations of the community.  Locations include surrounding churches, synagogues, and retirement communities.

Fall/Spring Festival:  This annual event is held in the fall or spring and is available free of charge to all Academy students.  Students perform before judges for constructive comments and competition experience.  Certificates are awarded for participation.

MANC Cello, Violin & Viola Competition & Festival (Honoring Elizabeth Hoffman Ragan):  This annual competition is held in February and features cello, violin, and viola students of all ages and levels nationwide.  Students are selected by a panel of judges for cash awards.  The competition honors the late Elizabeth Hoffman Ragan, who was a local cellist and the youngest charter member of the NC Symphony.

MANC Guitar Competition & Festival:  This annual competition and festival is held in the Fall and attracts the best and most talented guitarists of all ages nationwide.  Winners are selected by a panel of judges for cash awards.  There is an Awards Presentation and Winners’ Recital after a day of auditions and master classes.

MANC Jazz Festival:  This annual festival is held annually where jazz students may receive comments from clinicians and/or compete for trophies, awards, or cash prizes.

MANC Piano Festival:  This annual festival is held in the Fall where students may receive comments from clinicians and/or compete for trophies, awards, or cash prizes.

MANC Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion & Festival:  This annual festival is held in the Spring where piano students may receive comments from clinicians and/or compete for trophies, awards, or cash prizes.

MANC Vocal Festival:  This annual festival is held in the Spring where vocal students may receive comments from clinicians and/or compete for trophies, awards, or cash prizes.

NC Teaching Certification Renewal Credit:  Continuing educational renewal credit toward the NC Teaching Certificate may be received for lessons at MANC, through the Guilford County Public School System, with prior approval by the Guilford County Office of Staff Services.

Performance Reviews:  The professional performance of all employees of the Academy is reviewed on a regular basis.  Faculty members are reviewed at the conclusion of each academic year. Situations and concerns which need to be addressed prior to reviews are dealt with as needs arise.

Placement Assessment:  All new students to The Music Academy are scheduled for placement assessments by the Director of Marketing and Communications.  There is a $26 fee per student for each private and semi-private assessment, which is treated as the first lesson and applied to the cost of the term if the students opts to register for lessons. (No assessment fee for ensemble/class).

Professional Musicians for Private Entertainment:  The Music Academy provides professional musicians for private entertainment, coordinated through the Director of Community Outreach.  Fees are determined by the number of musicians and hours required.

Progress Reports:  Students/parents receive written progress reports at the conclusion of each trimester.  Copies of each report are kept in the student files in the office.  Teachers are encouraged and expected to verbally communicate with the students/parents on a continuous basis, so that comments on the progress reports support or reflect conversations which have already taken place.

Scholarship Program:  Merit Scholarships: Auditions for merit scholarships are held annually in May. Financial Aid: Funds are available to students who have demonstrated need and musical potential.

Student Recitals:  Student Recitals are held quarterly in The Music Academy's Allen Recital Hall.  The programs are optional, but allow students who wish to experience the joy of musical performance the opportunity to do so on a regular basis.  Additional Academy recitals are held at various times throughout the year.

Student Showcase Series:  Students perform throughout the year for numerous churches, community service clubs, organizations, businesses, foundations and individuals.
