The Music Academy Hosts 8th Annual Cello Competition
The Music Academy of North Carolina hosted its 8th Annual Cello Competition and Festival honoring Elizabeth Hoffman Ragan on Saturday, March 17. Twenty students representing 10 cities in North Carolina participated in the competition and festival which included a masterclass with guest clinician Ken Lurie, faculty at Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University.

The Music Academy of North Carolina Offers Recording Instruction and Services
On Monday, November 13, 2006, The Music Academy of North Carolina opened the doors to the Music Academy Recording Studio (MARS)! This professional studio provides commercial recording services for the Piedmont and surrounding areas, in addition to instruction on recording and production techniques with an emphasis on digital recording. Audio restoration and transfer to CD of cherished vinyl and tape recordings is also available.

The Music Academy Initiates Family Night Concert Series
The Music Academy presented performances by Janice Wells, MANC Piano Faculty, and her husband Robert Wells, UNCG Vocal Faculty in a musical setting of The Snowman, as part of The Music AcademyÂ’s new Family Night Concert Series.
The performances were held on December 2nd and December 16th at 6:30pm in the Allen Recital Hall. This setting of the charming winter story by Raymond Briggs was a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to enjoy a musical bedtime story.

Director of Community Music School in Russia Visits The Music Academy of North Carolina
On November 10, The Music Academy of North Carolina hosted a visit from Alfiya Safina, the Founder and Director of the ChildrenÂ’s Musical School #7, a community music school in Kazan, Russia. Ms. Safina was in Greensboro for two weeks as a guest of The Kiwanis Club of Greensboro, of which Jane Whichard, The Music AcademyÂ’s Executive Director, is President.
