11^th Annual Cello, Violin and Viola Competition Winners

On Friday, March 5^th and Saturday, March 6^th, 2010, The Music Academy of North Carolina hosted its 11^th Annual Cello, Violin and Viola Competition for students age 5 through adult. Over 134 participants representing 18 counties, 24 cities and 5 states were in attendance. Students and community members also attended daytime masterclasses, as well as Friday evening's performance by Cello Duo Wesley Baldwin and John Kaboff, and Piano Trio Nancy Bargerstock, Brad Clark and John Kaboff.

The winners of each competition category are listed below:

Primary (Violin)
1^st place: Jonah Chiu of Burlington, North Carolina
2^nd place: Kasumi-Layne-Stasik of Greensboro, North Carolina

Elementary (Cello)
1^st place: Andrew Ausburn of Thomasville, North Carolina
2^nd place: Joshua Holley of Greensboro, North Carolina

Elementary (Violin)
1^st place: Chloe Harvel of Kingsport, Tennessee
2^nd place: Anna Sykes of Greensboro, North Carolina

Middle School (Cello and Violin)
1^st place: Willa Finck of Banner Elk, North Carolina
2^nd place: Hank Skutt of Blacksburg, Virginia

Senior High (Cello, Violin and Viola)
1^st place: Yebon Go of Winston-Salem, North Carolina
2^nd place: Graeme Durovich of Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Adult (Cello, Violin and Viola)
1^st place: Louise Grevin of Winston-Salem, North Carolina
2^nd place: Matthew Armbruster of Winston-Salem, North Carolina
